Review of Me Before You (2016) by Rachel N — 24 Dec 2016
Me Before You again is one of those wish fulfillment weepies that come in to theatres as counter programming for the Avenger movies and the Star Wars films to mixed results usually, especially if they don't feature someone named Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock normally.
Emelia Clarke gets pulled into duty here and is essentially playing herself against another GOT actor in Charles Dance and Hunger Games escapee Sam Claffin who plays a spoiled quadriplegic who has promised his family he would give them 6 more months with him before getting euthanasia, not counting on his recently hired caregiver in Emelia to challenge him on every level to stay and vice versa for him convincing her to live outside her comfort zone and actually do stuff for herself over others rather than continually giving to her detrement.
As far as these weepie films go, it is not a bad one despite the flash of the pocket books at hand although I know it is part of the lead actors backstory, but the actors involved sell it relatively convincingly with a mixed review for Matthew Lewis of Potter fame who unfortunately doesn't have a lot to work with.
OK for what it is.
