Review of Me Before You (2016) by Valerie M — 06 Aug 2017
Refreshingly delightful, enjoyable, and heart wrenching. The critics who say all that isn't "enough to compensate for its clumsy treatment of a sensitive subject" are not in the shoes of this audience member who knows all too well how clumsy this subject is for those who have been in the shoes Emilia Clarke wore.
The portrayal of the depth of love, pain, and sheer agony felt by both sides reduced me to tears, and returned me to exactly what I experienced with my mother. Read the many suicide letters to left hidden in books to learn how clumsily to attempted this subject, so many times.
And ask her family members how clumsily they struggled to keep her here too. Yes, it is a sensitive subject, and this movie hit that subject square on the head for both sides of it.
