Review of Me Before You (2016) by Jolene B — 12 Oct 2016
While it may not be the most accurate depiction of disability, I was truly moved by both the book and the film. Beautiful acting from all cast members (in particular Mrs. Traynor, who I'd have liked to have seen more of), an important take home message, and some incredibly beautiful moments, which had me in tears.
The ultimate message is not to portray the gritty detail of life as a quadriplegic. Instead, the film and book both excellently portray a love story which involves someone with a disability, and they do this without being patronising, over-dramatic or offensive.
Thoroughly enjoyed the film!
