Review of Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) by Eric R — 06 Jul 2011
An ensemble piece that follows a group of lonely despondent individuals who are naviagating through our contemporary world looking for some form of intimacy. Richard (John Hawkes), a recently divorced, father of two, is lonely and feels like his life needs more adventure or purpose.
There is Miranda, an artist who lives alone in a small apartment who is looking for intimacy, particularly after meeting Richard. The story also focuses on a group of adolescences from the sexually curious pair of teenage girls, to Richard's own sons.
Miranda July has a very unique viewpoint on things. Its a very quirky, strange yet interesting take on contemporary life and this struggle between emotional connection. It kinda reminds me of a tamer version of a Todd Solondz movie.
