Review of Me and Orson Welles (2008) by Helen B — 24 Mar 2011
Linklater is never a guaranteed banker these days but this a great film with a real heart and soul. The performances particularly by Efron, Mckay and Kazan are brilliantly realised. Mckay has captured everything about Welles, but the performance never feels like imitation or cliche and you believe in the all the characters as actors within the play.
It doesn't go for a great story arc it pretty much just follows the pitfalls and problems of staging the production but it's no less enjoyable for that. Really, really enjoyable.
