Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by Tey Z — 05 Sep 2015
Right when you least expect it comes a gem cut with such cinematic precision you would not believe it was directed by an unknown TV director. I honestly have never seen a film like this whereby the cinematography and soundtrack so effortlessly work together to render layers for a story.
Speaking of story, boy what a fucking story is in store. This film in short is everything The Fault in Our Stars should ave been. Well, will The Dying Girl make bank like Faults? Unfortunately no.
Will The Dying Girl, over the years find a new life through home video, developing a cult following and forever sear itself onto the memory of those who witnessed this monumental achievement in terms of the high school genre and beyond? Coincidentally, just like the theme of the film where someone can live on long after they are dead, Fuck. Yes.
