Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by David F — 14 Apr 2015

It's definitely different than the normal Hollywood High School movie but I didn't quite take to it's twee tone and showy camera tricks like frequent wide-angle views and ironic subtitles. And while the numerous (and sophisticated) film references, many to high-brow and foreign entries in the canon, flattered my intelligence I found they didn't add much to the human drama of the title character and his reckoning with a view of himself in the world that was causing him to be miserable.
