Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by Eric B — 03 Jun 2015
Greg is an introvert with low self-esteem who is "surviving" high school by befriending all the cliques without forming any deep connections. But when his mother learns that a local girl, Rachel, has been diagnosed with leukemia, she insists that Greg do a good deed and spend time Rachel.
In spite of Greg's best efforts, his plan to skate through high school unscathed falls apart around him. Greg along with his "co-worker" (best-friend), Earl, share their homemade remakes of classic, if obscure, films with Rachel as her disease progresses and fight against the clock to finish a film just for Rachel.
Parts hilarious and gut wrenching, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl takes you on a quirky journey of self-discovery and acceptance that will leave you breathless and teary-eyed. This is one of the best films of the year so far.
