Me and Earl and the Dying Girl avoids common coming of age tropes and cliches for a tender and emotional film about friendship and growing up. The performances are fearless, with the adults not over shining the younger stars.
Its powerful and emotional, but also very raw and gentle, and one of the year's best films.
