Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by Julie C — 03 Jul 2015
Kid sits in front of computer reflecting on his lame high school life, tells us a story in the form of voice-over, applies for college and experiences something traumatic that helps him find himself. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is a solid film that follows the formula of many others.
That's not a bad thing because it usually works in this genre. It does make an attempt to be different, but not enough for me to feel like I was watching something new. I can't complain too much though, because I did enjoy this movie.
The acting is solid and film enthusiasts will appreciate the nods to many classics that are featured here. Like many of these indie comedy-dramas, I watched it, enjoyed it, and moved on quickly.
