Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by Francisco V — 16 Oct 2015
The good thing is that Alfonso Gomez Rejon has a chance to show all the creativity he visually has, (and the result is a very beautiful film visually speaking) but he probably concentrated more in this than taking Olivia Cooke out of the comfort zone of a bald dying girl crying.
At the end we have a film with very emotive parts and some other parts with a lack of empathy. In other hand, Thomas Mann along with the photography lifts the film with a very good performance I would consider as a deserved Golden Globe nomination (you know in one of those nonsense comedy categories).
