Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by Chris L — 17 Nov 2015
This is an eccentric, sometimes even psychedelic, coming-of-age dramedy that is more clever in theory than actual execution. It's littered with major stars and film geek shout-outs, but the film school plot presentation is tired and ultimately cheats (if you tell the audience explicitly that something is going to happen, it needs to happen).
This will appeal more to film nerds than a mainstream audience; and even they will probably get bored.
