Review of McFarland, USA (2015) by Robert M — 02 Jun 2015
Based on a true story? I think it deserves some pretty decent credit. As a proud cross country runner myself, Iâ(TM)d have to say I really liked this one. There really arenâ(TM)t any other cross country movies out there, especially one this well made and true.
Aside from the heart-felt story, there were some pretty neat courses that the team ran on, especially the state meet (yet they never mentioned that in high school cc, you run a 5k). There were lots of other neat sites shown throughout the movie as the team traveled abroad.
Not to bad for a guy whoâ(TM)s never coached cross country before. The film really shows how being in a running sport like such, it can really change who you are. Strong-willed and quite compelling, this one I would certainly recommend to just about any cross country runner or fan.
Go McFarland!
