Review of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) by Faith P — 05 Aug 2016
It is made clear early on in Scorch Trials that it does not move as smoothly or hold as much mystery as its predecessor. The editing is choppy at times and, as the story progresses, it can be difficult to follow Thomas as he makes his way to a supposed safe haven.
There are scenes shown that seem to have no relevance to the story and could have been left out altogether and other bits of dialogue that deserved more content. Just as in Maze Runner, though, Dylan O'Brien and Thomas Sangster do not disappoint in their performances of Thomas and Newt respectively.
And the cinematography is well done at emotional and pivotal moments in the storyline. Despite its glaring flaws, Scorch Trials presents an admirable amount of action and tension to its viewers.
