Review of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) by Elly P — 16 Feb 2016
1/4/16.
When I first read the Maze Runner trilogy I fell in love. I still think of it as one of my favorite series of all time. Although, I did forget a lot of the details of these books with time, I remembered enough to realize that a lot changed. Despite the million changes, I still appreciate this movie. Yes there is a lot wrong with it looking from the point of view of someone who has read the book. But looking at it through the eyes of a new movie, it isn't the worst thing ever. Yes, it is confusing (but so was the book). Yes, it is mostly a lot of running (but so was the book). Stepping back and looking at this from the perspective of it being the second movie in a trilogy, it is more than okay. Of course it is not as grand as the Hunger Games and of course it is confusing (because the kids are confused too), but that doesn't make it a bad movie. Overall, I enjoyed it. It kept my attention and I loved the look of the cranks. They will definitely be in my nightmares tonight.
