Review of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) by Chris W — 21 Oct 2017
The Scorch Trials certainly lacks an original conceit like its predecessor. Fans have also been critical of its deviation from the books. However judging the film on its own merits it's certainly an acceptable action sci-fi flick.
It maintains a strong pace throughout, there's a few jumpy moments and ok perhaps it panders to the zombie zeitgeist but at least it's well executed. The characters remain sufficiently engaging to pique my interest for the third and undoubtedly final instalment.
If you're searching for Friday night thrills with no mental effort you could do far worse.
