I don't like scenes where I cringe inwardly, not because of some gross effect, but because the character is doing something terribly stupid and/or socially awkward. Sorry, but those scenes spoiled my feelings for the film and did not allow me to sympathize with characters that seemed, to me, too strange (fucked up oddballs) to ever, actually exist.
