May is a film about isolation. She has a social awkwardness carrying over from childhood that prevents her from living the life she wants. She is very lonely and wants a friend other than the doll that has kept her company since childhood.

She reaches out to people and they lead her on and then hurt her emotionally. She realizes about people in my favorite line of the movie: "so many pretty parts; no pretty wholes." Angela Bettis makes May so real.

She uses so many mannerisms and just shows her social awkwardness so well. This is a brilliantly acted film. I also love the colors they use. I find the film to be easy to relate to. I had a friend watch this film and he really enjoyed it too.

.. he said if he hadn't have met me then he wouldn't have believed someone like May could exist. So, I guess I heighten the enjoyment of this film.
