The first half, nay two-thirds of this film is a cute, quirky indykid lovestory...and then it takes a turn. And oh what a turn it is. In fact, it's a specific moment (which I won't ruin by naming) that you can just tell does not bode well for the happy ending you really, really wanted.
But it all fits. The characters are great, the plot is great, I love this movie.
