Review of May (2003) by Jimmy L — 03 Nov 2009
This is a BRILLIANT movie.
But, what makes May brilliant?
Angela Bettis! Her performance as weird awkward May is Oscar worthy.
May for me is not a great horror movie. I found nothing frightening or horrific throughout. The FX are minimum at best, and nothing especially original or new.
The supporting characters are good, but nowhere near Ms. Bettis' talent.
Writer/Director Lucky McKee is too be commended for writing a great psychological study. But, more importantly for hiring Angela Bettis to play the lead character. Any less actress and this movie would have sucked big time.
