Review of May (2003) by Toby L — 01 Dec 2012
I'm a McKee fan so far, haven't seen The Woman yet but I'm really looking forward to it. Movies like May (I'm not really sure how to describe this subgenre) aren't made very often, and when they are they usually turn out bad or boring.
I think some clever writing and a great performance Angela Bettis made this one work so well. May was a wonderful combination of awkward, adorable, and creepy and the story and other characters worked very well around her.
The only issue I had was a seeming hole in the story where we aren't quite sure how significant the doll is supposed to be. Otherwise I found it very entertaining.
