Review of Maximum Overdrive (1986) by Jason D — 09 Feb 2008
Many of the greats have tackled Stephen King's literary material: Stanley Kubrick, Mick Garris, Frank Darabont, etc. But none of them were brave enough to take on Maximum Overdrive, so it was up to Stephen King to do it himself and luckily it turns out to be one of the greatest 80's cheesy horror movies EVER!!!! A beacon of alien light shines down upon Earth, giving machines the ability to have minds of their own and be very very rude to humans.
Some children die (in one of the greatest scenes ever) and masses of other people are killed until the film centers around a highway dinner filled with people who are fending off big scary Semi Trucks outside and fending off scary kitchen appliances inside!!! The fun never ends with MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!!!!! What could be better than all of this?? How about throwing in Emilio Estevez as the main lead and the entire movie scored by none other than AC/DC.
Oh Yeah!
