Review of Maximum Overdrive (1986) by Hunter D — 16 May 2009
Dumb as a brick but entertaining for the most part, it's easy to see why Stephen King decided never to direct again. Really he just picked the wrong story to make his directorial debut with. The movie definitely has that Stephen King feel, which I guess is something to its credit that King can get his vibe as an author across on film, even if the overall result is far from his best work as a storyteller.
The movie almost feels like a zombie film, except with zombie 18 wheelers instead of actual zombies. The AC/DC soundtrack gives the movie a good tongue-in-cheek vibe that it needs, and it just comes down to silly fun at the end of the day.
