Review of Maximum Overdrive (1986) by Michael J — 16 Feb 2011
This movie begs to be awesome and does so by admitting how ridiculous it is. But it's an absurd concept that sounds good (kind of) on paper... yet ultimately makes no sense when you really think about it. The truth is, though, it doesn't matter.
From the purely AC/DC soundtrack to the blowing up of multiple 18 wheelers to the inventive murders that the machines commit, Maximum Overdrive is a movie as possessed as the machines it portrays. If you don't like it, it's because you're far too sober to be enjoying it.
Stephen King was apparently on cocaine throughout the whole process, and while I'm not advocating drug use, you should at least be able to appreciate the weird shit people will make when their on drugs.
