Review of Max Payne (2008) by Dwight F — 23 Feb 2010
[Director's Cut].
Leave your expectations at the door.
The plot was slow to move anywhere significant, yet was dynamic in it's own right. While the climax totally redeems any shortcomings from one point of view, some will find that it's too little too late.
A well suited and quite haunting soundtrack, amazing ambiance, superb cinematography, great casting, and solid performances.
It builds itself up into the action, and while it misses a few steps here and there - it's worth seeing simply for the art-form itself.
Definitely watch after the credits (although hard-core movie goers all watch the full credits anyway, right?)!
