Review of Max Payne (2008) by Wes A — 20 Jul 2010
Max Payne is a good film. I saw the film in theaters and liked it a lot, but after rewatching it, I have come to like it a little less but its still a good movie.
"Coming together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a DEA agent (Wahlberg) whose family was slain as part of a conspiracy and an assassin (Kunis) out to avenge her sister's death. The duo will be hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation." - Flixster.
The reason I like Max Payne is because of how dark and action packed it is. The story is pretty good (though I have not played the video games) and the acting is very good. Mark Wahlberg (Planet of the Apes, The Italian Job) did an excellent job, he is one of my favorites. Mila Kunis (The Book of Eli, That 70's Show) is a talented actress as well, and is becoming a favorite. The reason I didn't like it as much as I did before is because I saw a lot of holes in the movie, that I didn't see before. The film is just gloomy all the time, never a happy moment. Which I don't mind if a movie is a little or even mostly gloomy, but Max Payne is just to much.
I would recommend this film to anyone that likes dark, creepy, action packed films, and as for there being a second Max Payne I would love to see it.
