Review of Max Payne (2008) by Vincent D — 12 Jun 2011
Max Payne is a video game both very easy and very hard to adapt. The easy part has been transferred beautifully to the big screen. Artistic shadows, extreme environments, slow-motion action, it's all here and it looks brilliant and adds well to the madness of the dark Max Payne world.
Maybe this was also the best part of the video game, because the plot is pretty much a carbon copy, but doesn't work as well as I remember. It's still is extreme, but not as extreme as it needs to be, or maybe it's just as extreme as the big screen would allow.
Either way, this isn't as "max" as it needs to be, but still provides good and a little different entertainment.
