It's hard to pin exactly why the movie doesn't work as well as it should. There's action, gunfights, mild fantasy, conspiracy, demons and that noir look everyone digs since Sin City.
The story is definitely too thin and never really comes together in a clever way.. the action should cover for that.. in fact the resolutions are pretty obvious and the one revelation actually takes a lot of the wind out if the sail of its early scenes. It actually try to be different from the pack but just too halfheartedly to pull it off.
