Thanks to a delightfully jocular screenplay penned by legendary screenwriter William Goldman, a profusion of charmingly light-hearted performances, and a very playful score, Richard Donner's "Maverick" rightfully adds itself to the impossibly obscure sub-genre of "Western Comedies.
