Review of Maurice (1987) by Sv G — 13 Aug 2007
Merchant Ivory movie from the 80s that I didn't know anything about prior to watching it. It's a good movie about a British man trying to deal with his sexuality in the early 20th century. Hugh Grant is extremely young in this, his voice is so different (though he's still got that usual charm).
I liked the movie, though I felt Ben Kingsley's character was pretty pointless. And at first I didn't really care for the Scudder character but in the end I didn't mind too much. Pretty good movie but there are better Merchant Ivory films out there.
