Review of Maurice (1987) by Burnz P — 07 Mar 2009
Wow, its finally nice to see a well made and well acted gay themed movie.
Its a bit of a gay classic, and now I see why, in this excellent story about two university friends who fall in love at Cambridge in the early part of the the 20th century, where being gay is a crime in the UK.
While Clive (a very young Hugh Grant) and Maurice try to fight their love and attraction for each other, they also deal with issues of class, morality, and self acceptance.
Excellent movie, and quite daring for the late 80s.
