Review of Maudie (2016) by Peter K — 25 Jul 2017
This is a visually beautiful, emotionally nuanced, wonderfully acted movie. Set in Nova Scotia, it retells the real life love story of an inarticulate man and a woman who, despite her nearly crippling disability, is a gifted folk artist who carries an intrinsic self worth that captured my heart.
This movie had me almost breathless, espercially in the first half, with feeling and awe. I have read that the videography may remind you of Andrew Wyeth. I agree. But as I watched, I immdiately saw the pallette of the great Dutch painter Vermeer.
This is one you won't forget.
