Review of Maudie (2016) by Joe M — 30 Jul 2017
Put it this way, I cried, and my wife sobbed. If you didn't feel sad for Maudie, then you're a turnip, not a human with a heat. The acting by Sally Hawkins was amazing. Ethan Hawke not so believable.
They should have casted an actor that looked a bit more like the real Everett. Hawke seemed too young, and too Hollywood good looking. But the story or her loneliness, pain, longing for love and a home, was so sad.
Yet God gave her at least one gift. The abuse she suffers at the hand of her husband and brother, shows the reality of life: The weak will always be exposed to abuse by someone. In the end, she utters, "I was loved.
" In her heart of pain, at least that.
