Review of Maudie (2016) by Lisa K — 27 Nov 2017
I love this story. The acting is superb. The premise of the movie is uplifting and motivating. It follows Eleanor Roosevelt's quote, "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
" Maudie had every reason to give up on life, she had so many physical hurdles as well as nasty people in life. She didn't let anything or anyone stop her from being happy and creative. Maudie is an inspiration.
I know this movie is based on truth but I don't know how much of it is accurate. The time line is quite difficult to follow as it is not clear how many years go by between scenes. I know that Maudie and her husband don't change cars, houses or their lifestyle over the years, which I appreciate but it would be good to know the time frame during the movie not just at the end by the new car models in the last scene.
I love both Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke and I also love a good cry and a good Canadian story.
