Review of Maudie (2016) by Aj C — 12 Jul 2017
Maudie is not an easy film to watch. It's slow moving,, slow talking, slow action and sometimes as bleak as the stark shack in the north Canada woods where Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke live. If you like minimalism, you'll love this movie because aside from Sally Hawkins' incredible portrayal of Maud as a crippled up, harried self taught folk artist, there ain't much.
More. I thought the professional critics overrated the film but I wanted to see the film for the acting. I wasn't disappointed. It's not for everyone, but it is a hell of a tough love story.
