To what standards are you comparing this movie? It is obviously aimed for the pre-teen and young teen audiences. It is not meant to mesmerize you with spectacular cinematography or special effects. In fact, I'm sure most if not all of the low ratings here are from people who are too old to enjoy this kind of movie.
I am almost 18, and though I haven't seen this movie in a while, I remember enjoying it when it first came out. I might have a different opinion of it if I was to watch it now, but I don't think it is necessary to do that.
Who cares if I would think less of it now? I enjoyed it when I was at the right age to see it.
