Review of Match Point (2005) by Alexey F — 21 Sep 2009
Jonathan Meyers is superb in this slow boiling thriller. Him and Scarlett Johansson have amazing chemistry together and their affair is probably the highlight of this film. I really liked how this film was so many different things a love story, a thriller, a drama on social class even.
It was also refreshing to see such a well rounded female character portrayed by Johansson she was the one who was reluctant to start the affair and they one so eager to end and start a real relationship.
So many times this character could have been the stereotypical other woman but instead we get an intelligently written woman with both flaws and redeeming qualities. Did expect him to get away with murder in the end but glad to see his conscience is certainly weighing down on him.
The music selection for the film was a perfect companion.
