Woody Allen returns to top form using strong themes reminiscent of his previous pic "Crimes and Misdemenors" in "Match Point". The first thing I noticed was the main character played by Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. At first he is a likeable, handsome, soft character who is a tennis instructor and also works for a big exec company. The second half(or maybe even the third) the Rhys-Myers character is caught up in guilt and risks his own life(or luck)on the line which then adds up to great moments of suspense involving two murders.

Scarlett Johansson's character is mighty obsessive for Rhys-Meyers since the two is having an intense affair. At first I saw her as a stuck up American, not having anything to do with the Rhys-Meyers, then things take a huge skid because she becomes madly infatuated by him and will even go to the hilt since she is now carrying his baby. Lust is in the air...

I've missed other major points(supporting characters and such) but in terms of strong resemblances "Match Point" is really no different then "Crimes and Misdemenors". Woody Allen is a master of directing these stories and I was fascinated from start to finish. The visuals is striking, the casting is superb, the setting is in Britain instead of NYC. "Match Point" serves well, even with the operatic music playing in the background. 40-Love to Allen.
