Review of Match Point (2005) by Freddie F — 16 May 2011
The comparisons with "Crimes And Misdemenours" are inescapable. This film is nowhere near as good. It has some good building of tension in the first hour, but the plot dribbles away into mild repetition and a less than original 'surprise' element.
Allen has a knack for natural dialogue, as always, but "Match Point" is a only a flawed and minor success among his oeuvre of great work.
