Review of Match Point (2005) by Jerome K — 11 Nov 2011
Seeing this was my first exposure to Woody Allen's work. Thankfully, he himself was not in this because I'm not a fan of neurotic characters with a a maudlin sense of humor that he usually portrays.
I have to confess though that I was expecting something a little different. The plot actually moved along a lot faster than I thought it would, though it was still engaging. The acting in this film was pretty good, though I was hoping Scarlett Johansson would have been given a little more chance to shine.
This dramatic film was actually half romance, half thriller. Because of this, you might find yourself liking one half and than being bored with the other. Ultimately, though, I'd recommend it to most people who enjoy either.
