Review of Match Point (2005) by Shannon L — 23 Jun 2009
I am NOT what you would call a Woody Allen fan. I just couldn't connect with the typical neurotic New Yorker schtick of his earlier works. However, I LOVED this film. It was a welcome departure from the films of his earlier career.
Jonathan Rhys-Myers was terrific and Scarlett Johanson, well, she played to her strengths. It all worked. I'm glad it wasn't marketed as a Woody Allen film because I definitely would have passed it up.
