Review of Match Point (2005) by Edgar P — 03 Aug 2010
This one may be one of the best Woody Allen's pieces of art ever, as Allen himself described this absorving movie.
Scarlett Johansson was perfect in this one! I think that she and the smart script are Match Point's best things. But there's a great chemistry between Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Johansson, which makes the "ping-pong & cigarette scene" one of the sexiest I've seen ("... you play a very agressive game").
This isn't a typicall Woody Allen movie, at my point of view. In this one, Allen reinvented himself and made a drama/thriller that I've never seen from him. There's some less enjoyable moments and a few cliches, but how would be a Woody Allen film without the Woody Allen's touch?
See it! Enjoy it!
