Review of Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976) by Martin C — 15 May 2009
Saturday night Kung-Fu Theater!!!!POW!!!!
The Master of the Flying Guillotine A.K.A One Arm Boxer vs The Flying Guillotine.
This is has got to be one of the greatest Kung-Fu movies every made...I hold this in very high regards in terms of classic Kung-Fu...Jimmy Wang Yu, or Jimmy Yu Wang, or Bob Smith, or whatever name he went by at that time, directed and stared in this 70's classic....You have everything you could ever want in Kung-Fu here. Jimmy playing his one arm boxer character, kicking ass against...well, I guess you could this the super heroes and villains of Kung-Fu...Some really unbelievable characters right out of a video game, and that means coolllll kung-fu action......Ridiculas yes....Over the top, yes...cheesy, hell yes....but that is what makes it so damn fun....That and the Flying Guillotine is one bad ass weapon. If we had that thing during the whole La Batalla de Gir³n affaire, we'd be smoking our Cubans now........Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fact-Fu:
In 1981, Jimmy was arrested on murder charge in Taiwan. However, the charge was dropped due to lack of evidence. Jimmys involvement in public brawls also made the headlines from time to time. Many people believe that this was Jimmy's down fall and why he didn't become as big as Bruce Lee, though that was the direction he was going....
