Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Lukasz D — 26 May 2009
Fantastic action sequences, heartfelt scenes, and a story made of the stuff of boyhood legends make this flick a real joy to watch. Sure, it can get slow at times, and the language may be a little fluttery for casual viewers, but it really shows you daily life within a 19th century man o' war.
Its style of filming gives you time to think, and soon enough I was aboard the Surprise with Captain "Lucky Jack". A top-notch historical piece.
