Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Jonathan C — 12 Jul 2009
In a word-spectacular*.
Unfortunately, the asterisk is to denote it was spectacular as an opening act, likely the first in a trilogy that never was brought into fruition. As a standalone movie, it ties up few plotlines and depends on a non-existant sequel. Watch it for what it was meant to be and love it for the outstanding exposition. Or watch it as a standalone movie and be thoroughly disappointed.
