Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Ken T — 09 Mar 2010
Underrated director Peter Weir crafted the most under-appreciated masterpiece of the decade. Drawing on the terrific and details books by Patrick O'Brien to make an equally terrific and detailed film.
Unfortunately most audiences preferred Johnny Depp swashbuckling to Russell Crowe strategizing. Beautifully shot with outstanding battle sequences, this is the best seafaring adventure since Errol Flynn set sail!
