Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Aidan B — 25 Mar 2010
This movie gives a good idea of what life's like aboard a ship, with plenty of attention to detail, but also has action and character development. Bettany's a great actor, as is Crowe, and pretty much everyone.
I found it amusing that Maturin (Bettany) just wanted to explore the Galapagos, while Aubrey (Crowe) just wanted to capture the Acheron (following orders, of course), when the sea is so big. Then again, Maturin's specimens that he wanted to find be an adventure on its own; it wasn't simply to be there.
