I love these old style, epic adventure yarns. At times a riveting and highly detailed look of (a harsh) life endured on deck of the Royal Navy Schooner, 'HMS Surprise'. In Napoleonic times circa 1805, the sea surrounding South America was a battle ground (populated by huge French 'Man-of Wars') and the story concerns the interception of a French Privateer, by the Captain (Jack Aubrey), played just perfectly by Russell Crowe.
Peter Weir (director) is the master at the helm.
