Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Vladimir P — 15 May 2011
Rewatched recently. Based on parts of several of Patrick O'Brian's excellent novels, a great movie in a genre otherwise untouched. The authenticity helps to immerse you in the world of wooden sailing ships.
Great character actors supporting fine performances by the leads. See it, and consider dipping into O'Brian's novels. As good as the movie is, the books are far and away better.
