Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Ian L — 22 Jun 2011
Overlong seaborne tale of not that much really, Russell Crowe puts on a very dodgy accent, there's some in the closet gay love between him and his doctor buddy, storms, cannons and a brief interlude amongst the odd creatures of the Galapagos.
Not very swashbuckling at all really, not a patch on Cutthroat Island for instance, and misses both the Captain Pugwash boat of comedy / Pirates of the Caribbean parody approach too.
